Golden Valley Christian Church

Perhaps you have been driving in open countryside, and noticed large flocks of birds in the air doing odd flying, almost like it is choreographed.  This behavior in starlings is called murmuration.  It starts as a large flock of starlings gather in the air, flying in unison like an aerial ballet.  They seem connected together, twisting and turning at a moment’s notice.  Some scientists think this may be done to avoid a predatory enemy.  Many scientists have been inspired to study this beautiful behavior.  God seems to have been a bird-watcher, with many references to birds.  Two of the best-known scriptures are Gen 8:6-12 (Noah and the flood), and I Kings 17:1-5 (Elijah and the drought in Israel).

GVCC will soon be having home study groups, studying the book of James, starting September 26, through October 24.  Back-to-church Sunday will be September 16th.  We are striving for a large attendance, and if we reach the goal, Bro Tim has a “special” planned for us.  We are encouraging all to attend and to bring a friend, so we can see what Bro Tim has in store for us.

Palm Trees, with scripture from Psalm 92:7-14, was Bro Tim’s message last Sunday.  Bro Tim gave a number of different attributes a Christian could learn from a palm tree.  Among these were deep roots, being tall and upright, being fruitful, being evergreen, and being able to grow under the most destructive situation.  If we think about it, we can apply each one of these characteristics to the growth and work as a Christian.
