Golden Valley Christian Church

On the third day of creation God created all the vegetation on earth (Gen 1:11-13).  But how many people stop to think that God placed many curing and pain-killing ingredients in those plants? Even though He was pleased with His creation, God knew that man could one day turn to evil things, some bringing illness and pain.  Did you know that the common aspirin’s pain-killing ingredient, namely salicylic acid, comes from a Spiraea shrub?  It also is found in willow bark and leaves.  Early on, mankind discovered this pain-killing chemical, chewing the leaves, and crushing the bark to eat.  A quarter of all medicine we take today comes from plants.  God’s wisdom is so much greater than humans!

Congratulations to Levi and Katrina Keithley on the arrival of their new baby girl, Raven Skye. She will join the beautiful little Raysik twins as the youngest attendees in our church family.  We are all looking forward to being introduced to this young lady.  Our Wednesday night study, The Truth Project, started out with a good attendance.  All are invited to join us at 7:00 PM, on Wednesday nights, at the church building.

Bro Tim’s message was “Says Who?,” with scripture from 2 Timothy 2:24-26.  Using a lidded box as a visual, Bro Tim pointed out how Satan tries to trap us in a box, trying to make us think that what is right is wrong, and what is wrong is right.  Our solution to this is in the Bible, with our faith in God, who is also known as “I Am.”  Jesus uses this term many times in His sermons.  It is our job to share this Good News about God and Jesus (Romans 12:12).

The Bible challenge question:  To what place did Judas lead the officials to arrest Jesus? (John 18:1-3)
