Golden Valley Christian Church

In the year, 2022, winter has 89 days, spring has 93 days, summer has 93 days, and autumn has 90 days, making a total of 365 days.  If this article is read on August 18th, there are 34 full days left of summer.  Sometimes, because of the immense heat, we think summer will never end, but to God, it is like a blink of an eye.  A thousand years is like one day to God (Psalm 90:4).  However, it was God that gave us the weather for the seasons of the year, regardless of where we live on this planet.  It may be perpetual “summer” at the Equator, or perpetual “winter” at the North and South Poles.  It can be different temperatures all across our planet, and it is God’s design.  Weather played important roles in the Bible narrative.  One incidence is the storm that Jesus calmed on the lake (Luke 8:22-25).

August 28th is going to be a special day for GVCC.  On this day, the young people of the church will be in charge of leading our worship service.  This is an annual occurrence, and one we all look forward to.  So, mark your calendars to attend and watch our future leaders take charge of the service.  Also, the youth groups will resume after the summer vacation, meeting on the second Sunday of each month, starting September 11th.

Bro James extended his narration of Jesus, feeding the 5,000 people with five loaves and two fish, with another miracle of feeding 4,000 men, plus women and children.  Both of these narratives appear in the book of Matthew (14:13-21 and 15:29-35) and Mark (6:30-44 and 8:1-9).  What was so important that both of these miraculous feedings are related?  The location was the main reason.  The feeding of the 5,000 was near Bethsaida, a Jewish community.  The feeding of the 4,000 was in the region of Gerasenes, prominently a Gentile community.  The point was Jesus, being a Jewish man, showed that His love was extended to all people.  Jesus has no favorites.  As Christians, we need to follow Jesus’ example, showing our love and kindness to all people.  The Apostle Paul sums this up in 1 Corinthians 13:1-7.
