Golden Valley Christian Church

Missouri has been home to many famous people.  Some of these people include actors, such as Dick Van Dyke, Brad Pitt, Betty Grable, Ginger Rogers; baseball star, Yogi Berra; basketball star, Bill Bradley; TV anchor, Walter Cronkite; playwright, Tennessee Williams; chemist and botanist, George Washington Carver, and of course, Harry S Truman, the only president of the US from Missouri.  The small village of Bethlehem of Judah was famous for at least two very important people in the Bible.  Everyone should know that Bethlehem is the birthplace of our Savior Jesus Christ, but it is also the birthplace of King David (1 Sam 16:1 and 17:14-15).

To have beautifully cool weather the first Sunday in August was such a delight!  Another delight was to hear Frances Burris sing “He Touched Me” during our morning service.  Frances has been so willing to use her beautiful singing talent in our church.  If you would like to hear Frances or the quartet sing, or listen to some of Bro. Tim’s messages, go to the GVCC website and/or Facebook.

Bro. Tim’s message, “Unity,” was taken from John 17:20-21.  Bro. Tim compared what Satan wants to do in the world, as opposed to what Jesus wants.  Satan wants division—to cause strife, anger, envy, and controversies.  Jesus wants the exact opposite; He wants people to live in harmony and peace.  Jesus should be our example, making our lives fuller and happier.
