Faith is a strange word, used frequently by Christians pertaining to God.  The strange thing is, everybody has faith, including non-Christians.  According to Webster’s dictionary, faith is trust and confidence.  People have faith their car will start, and they will make it to work safely.  They have faith their chair will not fall when they sit down.  They have faith morning will come, and nighttime will descend.  People trust in many worldly things.  Christian faith is different.  Webster says, “Faith is a virtue by which a Christian believes in the revealed truth of God . . .”  While we have never seen God in person, we have faith that He exists and is watching over us.  (Phil 3:8-9)

After a five-night stay, two young campers returned home last week, and told of their experience at our Christian church camp in La Monte.  Lauren Tucker told of the activities and events they had experienced, and Atticus Jones demonstrated some “magic tricks” they had learned.  Two more have attended this week, so we look forward to another report this Sunday.  Church camp is fun and a great way for young people to learn more about our God.  Also, last Sunday, Georgia Randall shared a lovely solo, a medley of beautiful hymns.  We enjoyed a basket dinner, with good food and fellowship.

We welcomed Bro Tim and Georgia back from their vacation.  Bro Tim’s message was entitled “More Than Just Fruit,” with scripture from Gal 5:22-23.  When we buy fruit at the market, we examine it to make sure it is without flaws.  Bro Tim talked about examining the Fruit of the Spirit more deeply. There would be no need of laws if these nine virtues were kept by all people.  Love, being the first one mentioned, would give service to others; we would have joy doing what God expects of us; peace would bring harmony with others; and so on down the list, these Godly virtues would make for a happy, selfless world.
