Golden Valley Christian Church

An article published in a book, "Stories for the Heart," helps to highlight the attitude of many Christians in this year of 2014.  This article rewrites, with scorn, Jesus' story of the Good Samaritan and is enclosed here, in part:  1) "I was hungry and you formed a humanities club to discuss my hunger." (Thank you)  2) "I was imprisoned and you crept off quietly to your chapel to pray for my release." (Nice)  3) "I was sick and you knelt and thanked God for your health." (But I needed help for mine)  4) I was homeless and you preached to me of the shelter of the love of God." (Why didn't you take me home with you?)  "You seem so holy, so close to God; but I'm still very hungry, lonely, cold, and still in pain."  Does this seem all too familiar?  Are we Christians in word only?  Jesus' words from Matthew 25:40 (NIV), "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me,'” should be imprinted on every Christian's heart.

Bro. Tim’s message, from Matthew 22, was based on the parable of the wedding banquet.  Although invitations were sent, people did not come to it.  The invitees gave various reasons for rejecting this invitation.  People continue to reject God’s invitation for salvation.  There will be a reckoning day for them, as there was for the people in the parable.

The Bible challenge question is:  "Who sent Cornelius to the Apostle Peter?'"  (Acts 10:1-6)
