Golden Valley Christian Church

The Old Farmer's Almanac forecasts that our area is going to be hot and dry for the summer of 2016. Many of us are coming to that conclusion also, with the hot, summer-like weather we are having in the month of June. While an almanac is a great source of information, the Bible is a much better source of information and predictions. We would be so much better prepared for life, if the Bible was our first source.

The Golden Valley Christian Church was saddened last week at the loss of one of our church family. We send our condolences to Evelyn Van Erp in the loss of her husband, Wyatt. Although we grieve, we know that Wyatt is now at peace after such a long illness. We have been preparing for VBS, and the event is now in full swing. Melynne Jones is directing this event, and we are so grateful to her for the great job she is doing!

Genesis 45:1-11 was the scripture reference for Bro. Tim's message, Revenge or Reunion? The scriptures relate how Joseph's dream, of his brothers bowing down to him, finally came true when he became the second most powerful man in Egypt. Because his brothers had sold him into slavery, Joseph would have had good reason to throw the brothers in jail, or even have them killed. However, he chose to forgive them and reunite his family. We will be forgiven by God in the same manner that we forgive others (Matt 6:12).

The Bible challenge question: Who did Jesus say is the greatest in Heaven? (Matt. 18:1-4)
