Golden Valley Christian Church

A mother, helping her little boy with a spelling assignment, came to the two words, conscious and conscience.  She asked her son if he knew the meaning of the two words.  "Sure," he said.  "Conscious is when you are aware of something, and conscience is when you wish you weren't." (Copied)  This may bring a smile, but God gave us all a conscience, and how we use it will tell a great deal about our character.  Listen to its warning signals, and you may avoid many pitfalls in this life.  Remember, God gave us all a conscience for a reason.

Does the church ever get off track?  The history of the New Testament church says, "Yes."  Bro. Tim's message followed the conversion of the apostle Paul.  Paul had been a staunch supporter of the Jewish laws until his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:3-6). This encounter totally changed Paul's life.  Because the other apostles feared Paul, wanting nothing to do with him, Paul's friend, Barnabas, intervened, becoming Paul's mentor.  Paul was chosen by God to be the messenger to the Gentiles.  The mission of the church is to reach unbelievers and bring them to Jesus.

The Bible challenge question is:  "How did Paul escape from Damascus?'"  (Acts 9:23-25)
