Have you ever heard of "blackberry winter?"  Many times in the month of May, when the blackberry plants start to bloom, we experience a cold snap; thus, the term "blackberry winter."             Last Sunday the Golden Valley Christian Church congregation enjoyed a "Mexican-themed" carry-in lunch.  We had several guests who stayed for lunch and enjoyed the meal with us.  Thanks so much to those who pitched in and helped.  The ladies Bible study continues on Wednesday evenings, at 7 PM, in the church dining room.  Attention is now focused on Vacation Bible School preparation.  Also, we are still collecting chili beans and/or refried beans for West Central Christian Service Camp.

Tim's message focused on Abraham this past Sunday.  God tested Abraham in requesting him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, but God really did not want Isaac's life.  The point of this request was to see what kind of faith Abraham had in God.  Abraham had so much faith that he thought God would bring Isaac back to life if he were sacrificed; after all, the promise God had given Abraham was to be delivered through Isaac.  God does not go back on his promises.

The Bible challenge question: What was the promise God gave Abraham? (Gen 22:15-18)
