Golden Valley Christian Church

One of the saddest things that can happen is when a false teacher captivates people and convinces them to follow him/her.  One such case involved Jim Jones, founder of the Peoples Temple.  In 1978, Jones took his followers to Guyana, to a supposed Utopia.  When Congressman Leo Ryan went to inspect some of the complaints he had received about the community, he was killed by some of the Jonestown faithful.  Jones knew this would bring the force of the U.S. government to investigate.  Telling his people that the government was after them, the people drank poisoned “Kool-Aid.”  The poison was given to babies and children, as well.  Over 900 people died.  Following false teachers cannot only kill the body, but also the soul.  (Matt 7:15)

Golden Valley Christian Church was doubly blessed in last Sunday morning’s special when Lauren Tucker sang “Victory in Jesus,” accompanied by her sister, Alyssa, on the saxophone.  We truly appreciate and enjoy our young people sharing their talents with us.  A most heartwarming event took place at the end of our morning service as Chris and Anna Tucker renewed their wedding vows.  It was a beautiful moment for them and a blessing to all of the congregation.  Congratulations to this nice young couple, with thanks for allowing us to witness it.

“Realities” was the title of Bro Tim’s message, with opening scripture of Genesis 1:1.  Sometimes people think one way, when reality is the opposite way.  When God made man from the dust of the earth and breathed life into him, God also gave man free will and choices.  God created and loved man, but His law says if you sin, you will die.  Each person will sin (Rom 3:23).  God made a way to escape our sins—by accepting His Son, Jesus Christ.  The promise is to all who believe (John 3:16).
