Golden Valley Christian Church

There is a story told about Thomas Edison when he was approached by Western Union to purchase his invention of the "ticker." Not knowing what value to place on this invention, his wife suggested twenty thousand dollars. When the time came to negotiate the deal, Edison was asked what his price was. Thinking his wife's suggestion was too much, he could not get the words out of his mouth. Then the Western Union negotiator said, "Well, how about one hundred thousand dollars?" In this case, silence was golden, an example many of us should practice.

In Bro. Tim's message, this question was posed to us: "Who is Jesus?" It is an important question, but more important is how it is answered. The people in Jesus' day were also asking this question. Some thought he was just a decent man. Others thought he was a demented fool, and some thought he was a deceiving fraud. All of these answers have been recorded in the Bible. If he had been a fraud, how could he have performed so many miracles, all to benefit others, but not Himself? Jesus' teachings are just as relevant today as they were then. The church and the Bible are still a force in this world. Christians know Jesus is our divine friend and the Son of God.

The Bible challenge question is: "What nickname did Jesus give James and John?'" (Mark 3:17)
