Golden Valley Christian Church

The people had to hurry.  Their captor had finally said they could leave, so time was essential.  They had been held captive for years and suffered untold hardships.  They had become slaves, ordered to do what was nearly impossible, all because of an arrogant, vindictive master.  Then, by some strange circumstances, the man ordered them to leave, so they had to hurry.  Finally, all loaded up, they left their dire circumstances and followed the leader of their group.  Speed was desperately needed, to put distance between this man and their freedom.  They traveled by day and by night, becoming exhausted, but freedom was on the horizon, and they were nearly there.  Suddenly, there was a noise behind them, and there were men chasing after them.  The master had changed his mind and didn’t want to lose his slaves.  The trouble was, there was a huge body of water ahead of them.  They were trapped between the mob of men and the water.  Read the conclusion in Exodus 14:5-31.

The most sacred holiday that Christians observe will be here this Sunday.  Easter is the day we celebrate Jesus rising from the tomb, giving His followers the assurance that life does not end at death.  Special plans are being made for this special day.  Our worship service will be held at 10:30 AM, as usual, but there will be no Sunday School, as other activities are planned, beginning at 9:00 AM.  The Charity Crafters meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 AM.  Bible Study is held at the church on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM.

Bro Elmer’s message involved understanding the power of the church.  How is it possible for ordinary people to spread the news of Jesus?  The answer to that is the Holy Spirit.  This was evident in the early church.  The Holy Spirit is mentioned sixty times in the book of Acts.  Jesus informed His Disciples that they would receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:7-9).  They received boldness to be able to speak through the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:31).  Paul tells us we are God’s temple, and the Holy Spirit lives in us (1 Cor 3:16-17).  Prayer was another element in this power given to the people.  As Christians, we need to use all of the power God has given us to proclaim Jesus.

Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 AM, and the morning worship service is at 10:30.  Our interim minister is Elmer Fuller, and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org, where you will also find links to access our Facebook page and YouTube sermons.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
