Abraham Lincoln's most pernicious enemy was Edwin Stanton, who taunted Lincoln at every opportunity he could find.  After Lincoln was elected president, he chose Stanton as the Secretary of War because "he was the best man for the job."  After the assassination, standing at Lincoln's bedside, Stanton uttered words that have gone down in history, "He now belongs to the ages."  Jesus, while nailed to the cross, uttered one phrase, among others, that has gone down in history, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."  (Luke 23:34 KJV)

Many thanks to those who do the hard work of cleaning the church building and grounds.  Keeping the building and grounds looking nice requires work and commitment.  The rest of the congregation is indeed indebted to these dedicated people.

Sunday's message was taken from II Peter, entitled "Our World--A Movie."  In most movies there is a plot, some type of trouble, and a solution in the end.  In our "World Movie," God made our world; Satan brought sin to the world; man sinned, turning his back on God; God solved the problem by sending His Son to redeem His people.  None of us are exempt from God's justice, but by accepting His Son, Jesus, we have the best of all solutions--our own salvation.

The Bible challenge question is:  "What two men prepared Jesus' body for burial?'"  (John 19:38-40)
