Most of us will remember the story, if not the name, of a very young girl who was gunned down in Pakistan for the “horrible crime” of speaking out for education for girls.  Malala Yousafzai was shot, while riding on a bus, for standing up to the fanatics in Pakistan.  Despite terrible injuries, she survived.  In 2013, Time magazine listed her as one of “100 Most Influential People in the World.”  In 2014, she was co-awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.  Malala was only seventeen years old when she received this prize.  Another young woman stood up for the rights of her people, years ago.  Queen Esther was also a young heroine when, under the threat of death, she stood up to the evil Haman by petitioning the king.  There is no doubt, God protected both of these young women.  (Esther 4:15-16)

Last Sunday was truly a delightful day at GVCC, when the babies, along with families, were honored.  We have two sets of beautiful twins and an adorable baby girl in the church family, all born in 2017.  All of the babies were brought forward, and our Elders and Deacons prayed for them and their parents.  May God bless each one of these families.  Next Sunday, March 11th, through the evening of Tuesday, March 13th, will be our long-awaited revival.  It starts with morning worship, at 10:30 AM, and each evening at 7:00 PM.

Bro Tim’s message was directed to the parents in the church.  Using passages from Judges 13, Bro Tim discussed the parents of Samson, and the privilege and responsibility each parent has. There are clear do’s and don’ts in our lives that have consequences (Rom 6:23).  He also encouraged a dependence on God to help them raise their children.  Parents are the number one example in a child’s life.

The Bible challenge question:  What two commandments did Jesus say “all the Law and Prophets hang on?” (Matt 22:36-40)
