Golden Valley Christian Church

In Bro Tim’s message last Sunday, he told a story involving Robert Robinson, an 18th century preacher and composer of the hymn, “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”  Mr. Robinson had led a sordid young life until he was converted by George Winfield, one of the greatest preachers of that time period.  One phrase in this particular song is “Here I raise my Ebenezer,” a word that is only mentioned three times in the Bible, all in First Samuel.  After defeating the Philistines, Samuel erected a monument, in gratitude for the divine help from God.  Samuel called the monument Ebenezer, meaning “stone of help.”  (1 Samuel 7:12-13)

What a glorious day we had last Sunday!  One of our youth, Alyssa Tucker, made the good confession and was baptized by her father, Chris Tucker.  It has been great joy to watch Alyssa grow from a child into this beautiful young lady, giving her life to Jesus.  The angels in Heaven were rejoicing with us.  Our three-day revival will start Sunday morning, March 31st, with Bro Seth Wortman, minister at the Glendale Christian Church in Springfield, Missouri, bringing the messages.  The morning service starts at 10:30, and the Sunday night service is at 6:00.  Monday and Tuesday services will be at 7:00 PM.  All are welcome.

“Revival” was the title of Bro Tim’s message, with scripture from Psalms 85:6-7.  We all have a tendency to stray and become a little lax in our Christian living, at times.  Even the most faithful can benefit from a renewal and refreshing of our spiritual lives.  We can become renewed and restored in our faith and commitment to God, through a revival.  God is always there when we need Him, and He expects us to continue a commitment to Him.  A revival can help bring this about. (Jer 2:2)
