Golden Valley Christian Church

When President John Kennedy was killed in the 1960’s, the governor of Texas, John Connally, was also wounded by the assassin.  Later, in an interview, Gov. Connally was quoted as saying, “As far as Nellie and I are concerned . . . it inevitably brought into sharper focus what’s really important in life . . .”  Why does it take a death-defying moment to realize how short life is and what is the most important thing in life?  Is it only in that moment we turn to God?  If it is, we may be “a day late and a dollar short.”  God is longsuffering and wants all to be saved, but there is a time when God will finally say, “No.”

Golden Valley Christian Church has been blessed, the last two Sundays, with some wonderful musical specials.  Frances Burris beautifully sang the song, “If That Isn’t Love,” and Victoria Gregory kept us spellbound, singing “Silent Night” in the German language.  Our thanks to both Frances and Victoria for sharing their unique talent with us.

Can it be that time of year again?  Yes, it is—so don’t forget to turn your clocks forward one hour this Saturday night.  Last Sunday, Bro. Tim’s message was a continuation of the third chapter of Galatians where the Apostle Paul admonished the people to remain strong in the teachings of Jesus Christ.  The law of Moses could not bring salvation; the law was given until it could be fulfilled through Jesus Christ.  Salvation is received, not earned, and is given on the basis of our faith and obedience.  That makes salvation free because of what Jesus, dying on the cross, did for us.
