Golden Valley Christian Church

Although small in stature, James Madison, fourth president of the United States, has emerged as one of the giants of American history.  Nicknamed “Father of the Constitution,” Madison helped draft both the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  In doing so, he warned against creating laws “so voluminous they cannot be read or so incoherent they cannot be understood.”  Could this same principle be applied to those of us as we try to explain the teachings of Jesus to others?  His teachings were so simple even a child can understand them.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).  As a starter, that’s the main thing for us to know, and is very simple to understand.

Thanks to Georgia Randall for filling in as song leader.  After the morning service, the congregation enjoyed a bountiful, delicious potluck meal.  It is such joy to be in the house of the Lord each Sunday, fellowshipping with our fellow believers.

Last Sunday, Golden Valley Christian Church was privileged to host Mr. Charles Watkins and his family from Show-Me Christian Youth Home, La Monte, Missouri.  The morning started out with a joint Sunday School session, with Mr. Watkins giving us information about the activities at the home.  Show-Me is a home for children who can no longer live with their parents.  Currently, the home is caring for forty-one children living in separate homes, with houseparents in each home.  The home has its own school, from kindergarten through high school, approved by the state.  Mr. Watkins, assistant director of the home, also brought our morning message.  Using verses from Romans, chapter 12, we were encouraged to have a better relationship with God, using prayer to communicate with Him, and always keeping our sights set on the right target.
