Golden Valley Christian Church

We are on the threshold of a new year, and with that comes New Year’s resolutions.  According to some surveys, many of the top resolutions seem to be repeated each year:  To lose weight, quit smoking, focus more on health matters, and control spending.  Amazingly, surveys have shown that many people have abandoned their resolution by the middle of January, and eighty percent have reneged on their resolution by the middle of February.  Another survey, done in 2021, found that only twenty-four percent of all Americans go to church faithfully, and of this number, only eleven percent read their Bible daily.  Perhaps, one resolution that we need to make, and to keep, is to read our Bible on a daily basis.

The GV Charity Crafters meet on Tuesdays at 10:00 AM.  A new date will soon be given for the resumption of the weekly Bible study.

Ken Jones filled the pulpit in the absence of Bro Elmer.  The title of his message was “The Day After Christmas.”  Now that Christmas is over and the excitement that it brings is also over, what are we, as believers, to do?  Taking scripture from the second chapter of Luke, we learn of the customs of the time, things that Mary and Joseph were to do with their young son.  These customs, and keeping them, were extremely important.  While some of these practices are not relevant in our time, there are things we should be doing the entire year, not just at Christmas.  Acts 2:42 tells what the Apostles did, and this is a plan pattern for us.  We must not lose our enthusiasm after Christmas, but maintain it year ’round.  We need to go to church to seek fellowship with other believers; we need to fellowship and study with other believers, and we must not lose our joy.  Reading the Bible will give us a better understanding of our Lord.

Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Sunday School classes begin at 9:30 AM, and the morning worship service is at 10:30.  Our interim minister is Elmer Fuller, and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org, where you will also find links to access our Facebook page and YouTube sermons.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
