Golden Valley Christian Church

Did any of you notice the beauty in the ice storm last weekend?  Most of us would give a resounding, "No!"  The majority of us were more concerned with the dangerous possibilities--the hazard on the road and the risk of losing electricity.  But after the major threats were over, and before the ice melted, the trees and bushes looked like a fairyland with their shimmering, icy limbs.  Even in the most dire circumstances, we can find a "rainbow," that wonderful symbol of God's love, if we look for it.

Despite the inclement weather, Golden Valley Christian Church held their morning service and was rewarded with a good attendance.  In our future events, a group from the Show-Me Christian Youth Home will be with us on January 29th, with Charles Watkins bringing the message that morning.  Also, our youth group will resume their meetings on January 22nd, at 6:00 PM.  There are a number of people on our prayer list that we need to remember in prayer.

Bro. Tim's message was about the Holy Spirit, a topic all of us need to be fully aware of.  There are many passages in the Bible that pertain to the Holy Spirit.  We know, from the book of Genesis, that the Holy Spirit was there in the beginning, hovering over the waters.  God sent the Holy Spirit to earth on Pentecost.  We receive forgiveness and the gift of the Holy Spirit at baptism (Acts 2:38).  From that point on, the Holy Spirit will reside with us, to guide, protect, help, and assure us in all the ways we need it.  It is up to us to accept that help and allow the Spirit to dwell within us.

Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM; morning worship is at 10:30.  Our minister is Tim Randall (office phone #660-890-0252), and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
