In 1940, Wilma was born the twentieth of twenty-two children.  She fell very ill at the age of four, with polio that left her left leg paralyzed.  The doctors told her mother that Wilma would never walk normally.  With the encouragement of her family, this amazing young woman not only walked, but also ran.  Overcoming serious obstacles, Wilma Rudolph ran in the 1960 Olympic games held in Rome.  She was the first American woman to win three gold medals at a single Olympics.  We all face obstacles, but with God's help, there are few that cannot be overcome.

In the morning worship service, Jacob Lamb and Marla Jones played a beautiful instrumental duet on the flute and piano.  After the services, the congregation enjoyed a bountiful carry-in meal.  Thanks, as always, to Jo Ann and Georgia and all that helped make Sunday such a great day!

Bro. Tim's message focused on King Solomon, with passages from Proverbs and I Kings.  The one wish God granted Solomon was to have wisdom.  In his early years, Solomon proved to be a very able leader.  He built the temple that David was forbidden to build, plus the palace.  Ignoring God's commands, Solomon married foreign women and turned to their false Gods.  This sin caused chaos and the downfall of the Kingdom.  When we lose sight of God and His commands, sin grabs a toehold and, like Solomon, our troubles can begin to multiply.

The Bible challenge question is:  "What other disciple did Phillip bring to join Jesus?'"  (John 1:45-50)
