During his opening remarks last Sunday, Bro Tim talked about the discoveries and inventions we have now, that Biblical people did not have.  The control of fire, and the wheel and axle, are universally thought of as the original discoveries that affected mankind the most.  But later inventions that have been of the most value to mankind are the printing press, electric light, automobile, and telephone.  Some that we don’t give much thought to, are vaccinations and anesthesia, in the medical field.  Think of going through any surgery without the benefit of anesthesia; or think of diseases we have not had to endure because of vaccinations.  We should thank God every day for giving mankind the knowledge to invent or discover these things that have been so beneficial. (Psalm 107:8-9).

This Sunday, December 2nd, at 10:30 AM, our youth will be presenting their Christmas program, “The Fumbly, Bumbly Angels.”  The invitation is open to all who would like to see our youngsters perform.  It is almost guaranteed to be a great time.  The evening of December 9th, GVCC will have an evening of caroling.  If you like to sing, come join us.  The GVCC Crafters will cancel their get-togethers during the holidays.

Luke 17:11-19 was the basis of Bro Tim’s message.  This involved ten men that were afflicted with a severe, debilitating disease called leprosy.  They were despised by their community and were not allowed to come close to any human, including their own families.  When Jesus walked by these men, they called out to Him in desperation.  He told them to go see the priest, and they were healed.  Only one of the lepers came back to thank Him, and this man was a Samaritan, a hated foreigner.  Are we as guilty as the other nine that did not thank Jesus?  Each of us has been blessed by God.  We need to thank him.
