Golden Valley Christian Church

As we approach the end of November, are we as thankful as the early pilgrims were when they celebrated their first bountiful harvest in 1621?  We have so much more to be thankful for, and we should be even more thankful to God for all He has provided for us (Ps 136:1-3).

Last Sunday was a very busy day at the Golden Valley Christian Church.  We enjoyed a holiday meal with a wonderful array of food and a great time of fellowship.  The church’s annual congregational meeting was held after the meal.  Melynne Jones and her helpers have been busy preparing for the Children’s Christmas program, which will be held the 3rd day of December, at 10:30 AM.  It is always a beautiful program we look forward to.  Twenty-two boxes were filled for Operation Christmas Child, surpassing the goal of fifteen boxes.  Next Sunday is the last Sunday to bring canned peaches for Project Christmas Cheer.  We give God the honor and glory for all of these events.

The song, “Count Your Blessings,” was beautifully sung in a duet by Sharon Seidel and Bob Fenwick.  Thanks to all of the people who share their musical talents with the congregation.  Each special adds much to our worship service.  Bro Tim’s message, taken from 1 Th 1:2-3, was entitled “Always Thankful.”  There are so many things we should be thankful for.  Bro Tim related a story about a lady who was a smoker.  She had tried, on numerous occasions, to quit the habit.  Finally, her fiancé told her he would not marry her until she quit.  Love was the catalyst that made her quit.  The point of the story is how love motivates us to do things.  Our love for God should motivate us to do His will.

The Bible challenge question:  Did the man Jesus cured from blindness know who Jesus was? (John 9:34-38)
