A story is told of a grandmother who was reading the Bible to her eight-year-old granddaughter.  They came to a certain passage, John 3:16.  The little girl’s eyes opened wide; she jumped off her chair and ran to get her grandfather’s Bible.  Returning to her grandmother, she opened to the same passage.  Looking up excitedly at her grandmother, she said, “It says the same thing in Grandpa’s Bible!”  We can all be assured the Bible will say the same thing today as it did many years ago.  God’s word remains the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The weather was beautiful last Sunday, and it was a great day to worship our Lord.  Many thanks go to Rosanna Cross and Georgia Randall for filling in as pianist and song leader this past Sunday.  The Randalls will host a wiener roast this coming Sunday evening, in lieu of our noontime basket dinner.

Bro. Tim’s message was entitled “Who Is God?”  One thing we should know is God is the ultimate source of truth.  Bro. Tim pointed out that just knowing the scriptures does not give us eternal life.  Putting that knowledge of the scriptures in practice is what God expects us to do.  God is known by many names.  He is called “Jehovah” in the Old Testament.  He tells Moses to call Him “I Am,” and we refer to Him as “Father.”  Knowing who God is helps us to know ourselves.
