Golden Valley Christian Church

There is nothing any more refreshing than rain after a long drought.  We all rejoice to see the fields restored, so cattle can graze again.  We rejoice over the dead lawns returning to their beautiful green color, even if it does require mowing.  We know mankind can live for a longer period of time without food, but survive only a short time without water.  However, in the beginning God did not send rain, instead giving the earth streams that watered the landscape (Gen 2:5-6).  Our awesome God knows our every need and provides for all of us.

The Golden Valley Christian Church will begin home Bible studies entitled "Parables of Jesus," starting the week of October 7th.  This will involve six parables Jesus gave.  We encourage all to sign up for these informative studies.

Bro. Tim's message was entitled "Taking Up Your Cross."  What does it mean to "take up your cross?"  It has to be (1) a voluntary act, (2) an act of love, and (3) hard to do.  Substituting cross-bearer instead of "love" in the thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians are some things in "taking up your cross" should be.  The only thing that will last is the cross we have carried for Jesus.

The Bible challenge question is:  "Who was the widow David married?"  (I Sam 25:39-42)
