Golden Valley Christian Church

You may never have heard of Dr. Frances Kelsey; she was hired by the FDA in 1960.  Standing up to the pressures from a well-known pharmaceutical firm in Ohio, this doctor ultimately blocked American approval of the marketing of the drug thalidomide.  This drug was responsible for horrible birth defects when given to expectant mothers, most of whom were in Europe where the drug had been approved.  Had it not been for this courageous doctor, many more children would have been born with major birth defects.  Dr. Kelsey is a real example to Christians in this era to stand for Biblical principles and hold firm against the world's pressures.

Last Saturday night, the church family and friends enjoyed a wiener roast at the church; those attending reported a very enjoyable time.  The next day, Georgia Randall sang a beautiful song, "Because He Lives," in our morning worship service.  Bro. Tim's sermon, taken from the fifteenth chapter of Luke, was entitled "The Lost Parables."  These parables are obviously not "lost" since we read about them in the Bible.  However, in each of these parables, a lost item (a sheep, a coin, and a son) represents people who are lost.  Jesus tells us to seek the lost, many of whom do not even recognize their condition; change can only come if one is aware of his/her own condition.

The Bible challenge question is:  "Who is Cephas?"  (John 1:42)

The Golden Valley Christian Church meets at 611 South Third Street in Clinton.  Our Sunday Bible classes begin at 9:30 AM, and morning worship is at 10:30 AM.  Our full-time minister is Bro. Tim Randall (office phone # 660-890-0252), and our website is www.goldenvalleycc.org.  We are happy to invite you to attend our services, where you will always receive a warm welcome.
